Artist Statement: I plan to make a highly site specific found objects installation in the NW corner of the northernmost greenhouse. I will be drawing heavily on research of biographical material pertaining to Allen C. Haskell. I will explore the reality and folklore of Haskell as an iconic New Bedford figure. I will also draw inspiration from my own personal distorted childhood memories of Haskell and the gardens. Using found cultural objects I will create an abundance of interwoven assemblage pieces within the larger installation.

Artist Bio: I am a New Bedford artist who finds inspiration in how great we are at forgetting our own local history, our innate preference for folklore & myth over facts, and the contradictory conundrums & hopelessness of preservation

“I believe my work will speak to the "objects rooted in imagination" theme; even though they will be found objects, they will be carefully curated to contrast the utilitarian (garden tools etc.) with the ambiguous & dreamlike (fast food chain ephemera etc.).  And though they may be largely mass produced objects; they will be lovingly curated as to select those "that carry the unmistakable imprint of the human hand.”
